The Enhancement Shaman Thread

Hey guys

Recently you've probably seen my online on my shaman Gringoble, and I really enjoy playing something new and exciting as dps .
I've been monitoring my dps, doing dps test on dummies and such, and my single target dps seems to scale very nicely with skills and gear. Where I seem to struggle, is the overall dps. This has to be caused by me sucking while doing trash. I know as an enhancement shaman, my aoe abilities are rather limited, but I also find myself using some time figuring out wth I should hit, and then actually targeting that enemy.
So I'm gonna ask you guys if you have any smart tips getting the right mob targeted fast, so I have more time to do my button magic.

I have a few tips from playing Muti rogue, as that is another class with very limited AoE abilites (fan of knives lolol).

First things first - on 3 mobs or more AoE abilities will more than often outperform single target abilities. Make good use of your Fire Nova, Magma and Fire elemental totems.

Now, I'm not very into Enhancement mechanics but on my rogue I have 2 "buildups" that is, my deadly poison stack, which i use for envenom and my rupture which just ticks away. When single target dpsing groups i have the following priority:

1) As long as a rupture can run it's full durantion keep applying rupture
2) If rupture cannot run it's full duration, but you can get an envenom off before the target goes down - stay on target.
3) If neither of the above then shift to the next target, regardless of the current targets health - just let the group finish it off.

That way i make sure that my single target dps is as high as possible without loosing potential dmg.

I imagine some of the same principles can be applied to your flameshock cycle or so.

Anyway, that's how i cope when not having any AoE

In my current rotation I dont use FS, so I dont have any dots or such to keep track of.

I thought optimal rotation was something like:

1) SS when not on CD.
2) Every 6 seconds alternate between using earth shock and flame shock.
3) Everytime Maelstorm is fully charged use Lightning bolt or Chain ligning is several mobs

At least point 1 and 2 was the rotation pre patch 3.0

All the guides I found talk about a prioritizing list. This is somewhat similar to yours:

1) If Maelstrom Weapon x 5 is up fire Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning
2) Else Storm Strike
3) Else Earth Shock
4) Else Lava Lash

Its actually scary that the guide on Elitist Jerk doesn't even mention Flame Shock. Gonna try out some new rotations to see what happens.

If they dont, then you probably shouldn't use it. Haven't read about enhancement since tenta was offspeccing =)

Flame shock isnt better than earth shock anymore, with the changes to crit = melee crit and spell crit. And now that there are enough stormstrike nature dmg increase charges, earth shock is better.

EDIT: At least that's what i've found while lvled my enhancement shaman.

Tried some different stuff on the boss dummy:

WF/FT is definitely better.

Only using ES is better (Ofc this was the first time I tried but 300 dps difference is hard to make up with skills, as I pretty much had FS up most of the time, and ES in between.

And I believe Flametounge Totem beats the use of totem that shoot fire at single target
