| Deep Resto Build
copypasted from old forum, so nothing new here. Just thought i'd be nice if the officers at somepoint tried to get an overview of the raiders and their specc.
EDIT: critiscism or hitherto unkown shaman trivia welcome.

| The 3 points in natures guardian could be handy situationally but if you put them in Enhance - Imp. Shields there will be a constant benefit. Not exactly a specc defining change, probably depends on your personal preference. | |

| With our current choice of tanks i'll not relocate those points.
EDIT: nah, u might be right. I might wanna remove them from healing grace instead tho (15% less aggro from healing spells) as i've raided without it often.

| BREAKING (shaman) NEWS: Spirit link is OUT! Now i get a HOT instead. (i verified this with several souces so it seems to be true). Reading EJ atm, but there doesnt seem to be any usable number crunching on this yet. But my first reaction to this was positive. Shamans atm needs 10man viability compared to priests or palas (with the current beta setup). | |

* Water Shield - Your Water Shield has 3 additional charges. * Chain Heal - Your Chain Heal heals 1 additional target. * Lesser Healing Wave - Your Lesser Healing Wave heals for 20% more if the target is also affected by your Earth Shield. * Earthliving Weapon - Increases the chance for your Earthliving weapon to trigger by 5%. * Healing Wave - Your Healing Wave also heals you for 20% of the healing effect when you heal someone else. * Mana Tide - Your Mana Tide Totem grants an additional 1% of each target's maximum mana each time it pulses. * Healing Stream Totem - Your Healing Stream Totem heals for an additional 20%.
I might go inscription if this glyph is not otherwise available to me.

I might go inscription if this glyph is not otherwise available to me. I believe that all glyphs are available to everyone (atm) but inscriptors simply have 1 extra glyph socket to fill.

- The clearly worst single target healer in WotLK is the Holy Priest. One thing the OP got wrong was in mentioning that LHW spam couldn't compare to Holy Light/Greater Heal. While LHW spam doesn't stack up against Holy Light, the entire structure of Earth Shield/Earthliving/LHW beats Greater Heal spam for throughput.
Discipline Priests aren't much better off. They can slightly beat the LHW-spam in terms of throughput, and have a decent ability to react to damage with instant healing. However, the entire constellation of Resto Shaman abilities - including HoT, reactive healing, and buffs - means that a Resto Shaman would likely be chosen over a Discipline Priest for inclusion in your raid.
Comparing to a Resto Druid is a bit tough. However, we can probably assert that the two are 'equivalent' in some vague way for single-target healing in a raid. I should also note that Discipline Priests, Resto Druids and Resto Shaman are not 'self-stackable'. Having a pair of any of those specs on the same target significantly downgrades the value of the second healer.
Holy Paladins are, on paper, the best single target healers. But in practive, their healing structure just doesn't "work" that well for 25-mans. Their efficient healing is extremely slow - you might as well just have your Druid tossing HoT around. Holy Light itself is just too big and the casting time reductions it gains are too random. Additionally, your raid doesn't gain much of anything from having the Holy Paladin heal the tank. No proc buffs, nothing setup for future healing, etc.
So in terms of raid healing, I'd actually place the Resto Shaman between #1 and #3 depending on what considerations you weigh most heavily. source: elitist jerks. there is yet hope.

| Here is a list, for those who are even vaguely interested (besides myself i have a hard time to imagine who it might be) but the HEP for shamans (Healing Equivalency Points) has been calculated thus:
Crit= 11 Spelldmg= 8 Mp5= 7 Int= 6 Spi= 5 haste= 4 stamina= 1
so if ur gathering for resto gear on the side for ur alt shaman, or if ur main is a shaman - or u were just wondering in general "gee, what stats might be beneficial for resto shamans nowadays?" - there is a list for ya.
Crit is top because of all the procs resto shamans have.
On another note, i ask all mana users who are frequently in our 10man raid to make the following macro "/w tenta I am soon out of mana, how about a manatide totem right about now?". I sometimes see ppl spending their cast time on writing whispers for me in bossfights so i thought this might simplify things for everyone.
